Community Participation (CP)

What is Community Participation?

Community Participation is a Dept of Human Services - Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC) funded program that aims to assist young adults with a disability to develop skills that will help them achieve their life goals, increase their independence and participate as a valued and active member of the community.
 
The CP Program aims to assist young people with a disability to develop the skills they need to work towards their goals, increase their independence and participate as valued and active members in the community.

Community Participation (CP) Program is for young adults with special needs. The Program is targeted to young people with a disability with moderate to high support needs who require an alternative to paid employment or further education in the medium or longer term.

Success in this program will be measured by the candidates ability to:
  • maintain and develop life skills and increase independence
  • continue learning and participate in meaningful leisure, recreational, social and cultural activities
  • participate and are included in their local community
  • have active and valued roles in their community
  • expand their friendship and support networks
  • who are Aboriginal or from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds have fair access to
  • support; and
  • are supported in making the transition from school to adult life.
