Travis R. Powell, President

Travis Powell founded Essential Personnel in 2007, and is the President of the company. When he started Essential Personnel he had a vision to improve and revolutionize the recruiting process. Through the use of proven strategies and leveraging technology, he was able to maximize applicant flow and meet the needs of client companies. With these techniques he quickly grew Essential Personne. Travis has grown his team of skilled employment consultants and recruiters to over 20, and services hundreds of companies throughout Nebraska. Prior to starting Essential Personnel, he had experience as an operations officer in the banking industry and was responsible for sales and recruiting within the staffing industry. Travis has a degree in Business Administration and Management and is a member of various local and national professional organizations.

Darin Ehlers, Controller

Darin is the Controller for Essential Personnel.  He started with Essential Personnel in 2011 and is responsible for cash management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.  Darin brings to Essential Personnel over 20 years of accounting experience.  Darin has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis is Accounting and is a licensed CPA.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Rodney Christensen, CSP, Regional Manager

Rodney Christensen is Essential Personnel’s Regional Manager.  Since joining the team in early 2011, he has had an impressive track record to secure the best talent.  He works with clients to develop new methods to improve efficiencies in the hiring process and reduce turnover.  Along with working with clients, he also works with recruiters and the sales team to create strategies to exceed the client’s needs and ensure they are providing high quality candidates and excellent customer service. Rodney has recently received his Certified Staffing Professional (CSP) designation through the American Staffing Association. Prior to Essential Personnel, Rodney owned and operated a fleet of routes with Fedex Ground throughout Nebraska.  He is involved in his local community with coaching youth sports, helping with fund raisers, and attending Chamber events.

Jana Meyer, CSP, Office Manager

Jana is the Office Manager.  She began her career with Essential Personnel in July, 2007. Her position has evolved over the years as Essential Personnel has grown.  She is responsible for many of the operational and payroll functions such as; time entry, garnishments, wage and employment verifications, and office supplies and technology support to ensure all offices run as efficiently as possible. She brings to the company over 11 years of Customer Service experience. She received her Associate’s Degree in Business Administration with a certification in Bookkeeping. Jana received her Certified Staffing Professional (CSP) designation in 2013. She is a member of the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals.

Nicole R. Kennedy, CSP, Branch Manager – Grand Island, NE

Nicole is Essential Personnel’s Grand Island Branch Manager.  She started with Essential Personnel in 2012 as an employment coordinator and was promoted to Branch Manager. Her responsibilities include overseeing the daily operations of the office, recruiting, screening employees, and developing relationships with client companies.  Prior to working for Essential Personnel, Nicole worked as a Corporate Recruiter for the State of Nebraska and Kansas. Nicole has a degree in Business Administration-Marketing and Political Science and is a member of the Central Nebraska Human Resource Management Association.

Jessica Slama, CSP, Branch Manager – Columbus, NE

Jessica is Essential Personnel’s Columbus Branch Manager.  She started with Essential Personnel in 2014 as an Administrative Assistant and was promoted quickly. Her responsibilities include overseeing the daily operations of the office, recruiting, screening employees, and developing relationships with client companies. Jessica brings over 7 years of Customer Service experience to the company. Jessica has a degree in Psychology and Sociology and is a Certified Staffing Professional and active member of the American Staffing Association.

Joy C. Slaughter, Branch Manager – Fremont, NE

Joy is Essential Personnel’s Fremont Branch Manager.  She started with Essential Personnel in April of 2018 as an employment consultant in Fremont and was quickly promoted to the Fremont Branch Manager is September of 2018. Joy is directly responsible for recruiting and placing skilled employees at client companies; she works close with clients and assists them with their hiring needs.  In addition, Joy oversees the daily operations of the Fremont office, manages internal employees and maintains a superior level of customer service within the Fremont branch. Prior to working for Essential Personnel, Joy worked as a Production Control Manager as well as a Strategic Account Manager. Joy has certifications in Electronics, Kaizen, API & ACI.  Joy has experience in recruiting, customer service, client development as well as knowledge of employee and client relations.

Christina Froehlich, Branch Manager – Norfolk, NE

Christina is Essential Personnel’s Norfolk Branch Manager. She started with Essential Personnel in 2016 as a Staffing Specialist and was promoted to Branch Manager in 2018. Her responsibilities include overseeing the daily operations of the office, recruiting, screening employees, and developing relationships with client companies. Christina brings over 10 years of customer service, leadership and management experience to the company.

Arlen Jorgensen, Branch Manager – Kearney, NE

Arlen is Essential Personnel’s Kearney Branch Manager.  He started with Essential Personnel in March of 2017 as an Employment Consultant.  His responsibilities include overseeing the daily operations of the office, recruiting, pre-screening employees, and client satisfaction.  Arlen was born in Kearney and graduated from Kearney High in 2002.  He then moved to San Diego, CA before returning to Kearney in 2007.  Arlen brings over 5 years of sales and marketing experience along with becoming a Certified Staffing Professional through the American Staffing Association.
